देशभक्ति गीत सुनकर नेहरू की आंखों से आंसू बह निकले और वे बच्चों की तरह रो पड़े। यह 1962 में चीनी आक्रमण के तुरंत बाद की बात है।

Lata's song immortalised the heroic deeds of our soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country. Since then, this song has become the epitome of the patriotic songs.

लता के इस गीत ने देश के लिए अपने प्राणों की आहुति देने वाले हमारे सैनिकों की वीरता को अमर कर दिया। तब से यह गीत देशभक्ति गीतों का प्रतीक बन गया है।

Lata Mangeshkar, the singer of 'Aei Mere Vatan......' is nicknamed 'Swar Samragyi' (melody queen) and 'Swar Kokila'. She was born on 28th September 1929 in a Maharastrian family residing in Indore in Madhya Pradesh. 

'ऐ मेरे वतन......' की गायिका लता मंगेशकर का उपनाम 'स्वर साम्राज्ञी' (सुर साम्राज्ञी) और 'स्वर कोकिला' है। उनका जन्म 28 सितंबर 1929 को मध्य प्रदेश के इंदौर में रहने वाले एक महाराष्ट्रीयन परिवार में हुआ था।

Her father Deenanath Mangeshkar was himself a noted classical singer and Theatre artist. Her mother's name was Shudhhamati. 

उनके पिता दीनानाथ मंगेशकर स्वयं एक प्रसिद्ध शास्त्रीय गायक और रंगमंच कलाकार थे। उनकी माता का नाम शुद्धमति था।

The family's last name used to be Hardikar but Deenanath changed it to Mangeshkar in order to identify his family with his native town, Mangeshi in Goa. Lata was named Hridaya at her birth. 

परिवार का अंतिम नाम हार्डिकर हुआ करता था, लेकिन दीनानाथ ने अपने परिवार की पहचान गोवा के अपने पैतृक शहर मंगेशी से कराने के लिए इसे बदलकर मंगेशकर रख लिया। जन्म के समय लता का नाम हृदया रखा गया था।

Her parents later renamed her Lata after a female character Latika in one of her father's plays. The famous singers Asha Bhonsle and Usha Mangeshkar are her younger sisters.

बाद में उनके माता-पिता ने उनके पिता के एक नाटक में एक महिला पात्र लतिका के नाम पर उनका नाम बदलकर लता रख दिया। प्रसिद्ध गायिका आशा भोंसले और उषा मंगेशकर उनकी छोटी बहनें हैं।

Her younger brother Hridayanath is a well-known music director. Meena is the youngest sister.

उनके छोटे भाई हृदयनाथ एक प्रसिद्ध संगीत निर्देशक हैं। मीना सबसे छोटी बहन हैं।

Lata Mangeshkar has won several awards and honours including Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, Dada Sahab Phalke Award, Maharashtra Bhushan Award, NTR National Award in addition to three National Film Awards, 12 Bengal Film Journalist Association Award and Film Fare Best Female Playback Singer Award. 

लता मंगेशकर ने पद्म भूषण, पद्म विभूषण, दादा साहब फाल्के पुरस्कार, महाराष्ट्र भूषण पुरस्कार, एनटीआर राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार के अलावा तीन राष्ट्रीय फिल्म पुरस्कार, 12 बंगाल फिल्म पत्रकार संघ पुरस्कार और फिल्म फेयर सर्वश्रेष्ठ महिला पार्श्व गायिका पुरस्कार सहित कई पुरस्कार और सम्मान जीते हैं।

In 1969, she made the unusual gesture of giving up the Filmfare Best Female Playback Singer Arvard in order to promote fresh talent. She was later awarded filmfare lifetime achievement Award in 1993.

1969 में, उन्होंने नई प्रतिभाओं को बढ़ावा देने के लिए फ़िल्मफ़ेयर सर्वश्रेष्ठ महिला पार्श्व गायिका पुरस्कार अर्वार्ड को छोड़ने का असामान्य कदम उठाया। बाद में उन्हें 1993 में फ़िल्मफ़ेयर लाइफ़टाइम अचीवमेंट पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया।

She has also won the highest civilian award of the country Bharat Ratna (2001). Our country is proud of her and she stands as guiding Principle for our young budding vocalist.
